Hand From Above is the latest project by Chris O’Shea where a giant hand tickles, resizes and even picks up pedestrians that are within the range of what the camera projects on the big screen.

Chris O’Shea was commissioned by Abandon Normal Devices and Liverpool City Council for BBC Big Screen Liverpool and the Live Sites Network to create something for the BBC Big Screen. Hand From Above interacts with unsuspecting pedestrians; it can tickle, stretch, flick or remove them entirely on the big screen. Chris used OpenFrameworks and OpenCV to build this software.

Liu Bolin – The Invisible Man

A young Beijing artist, Liu Bolin, who has exhibited primarily in China until last year’s solo show at Paris’ Galerie Bertin Toublanc and a group show with the gallery in Miami had recently finished up a show at Eli Klein fine art in New York showcasing a variety of his pieces including some from the series ‘Camoflague’. This series is an exploration of human nature and animal instincts which features Chinese citizens painted to blend into their surroundings, no matter how difficult they might be. The subjects are covered from head to toe in paint, camouflaging themselves in front of the Chinese flag, a billboard or downtown Beijing.

Liu Bolin with a little help from an assistant paints his body to merge as seamlessly as possible with what is behind him. He uses himself as a blank canvas. His work is to choose a good background where he wants to be “disappeared” into and it requires a lot of patience with him standing there unmoved until a design has been painted to him. He works on his photographs for more than ten hours to make sure he gets it just right. He achieves the right effect where sometimes passers-by don’t even realize he is there until he moves. Edgar Miller’s Huge 3D painting for Shanghai EXPO

Shanghai’s MeiLongZhen Plaza turns up as a centre stage for a huge stunning waterfall 3D painting. The world famous 3D artist, Edgar Mueller, creates the 3D picture with a torrential waterfall as the background and elements of 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

The picture that extends to an area of 300sq m followed the artist’s previous mind-bending works, which have turned urban settings into an icy crevasse, raging rapids, a mysterious cave and even the pits of hell. Wondering what will be next.

Amazing creative money origami

Origami is a Japanese word that is made of combination of “折り-ori” (fold) and “ 紙-kami” (paper). It is used to describe crafts made from folded paper in Japan as well as pieces originating in other regions but many people associate folded paper crafts with Japan in particular. Individual origami pieces can vary widely in size and design, from simple folded boxes to ornate creatures made by joining several different sheets of paper.

Nowadays many different types of Origami also exist such as Pop-up Origami, Knotology (folding with paper strips), and Kirigami. Scissors, stick or papers are allowed to be used in different shapes in some types of Modern Origami.

Money origami involves the art of folding paper money instead of paper. It is getting more and more popular each day. Some fold it for their own collection while others give it as a gift. We hope you enjoy this collection of creative money origami.
